Treatment begins with a complete history referred to as the initial consultation.
After the initial consultation therapeutic hypnosis is taught face to face with the client seated comfortably in a recliner. During the induction the client is equipped with sleep shades, a headset and microphone. The therapist then leaves the room and observes the client over closed circuit video, and they communicate via headsets and microphones. The client is never really alone.

In this phase in a safe environment a series of age regressions identifies the times and places in which the thoughts, briefs, and behaviors were created that is fueling the distress.
